How jewelry retouch is done
You send your photo
Your jewelry photo, with fingerprints, dust, scratches or harsh glare you want gone.
We find every mark
An editor marks every spot to fix, even marks too small to see at first glance.
We clean the metal and stone
Marks are cleaned off the metal and stone by hand, while the facets and fine details stay sharp.
Shine, kept natural
A soft, natural shine on the metal and a clean sparkle on the stone, checked by a second editor.
Why studio jewelry retouching outperforms automated AI filters.
Jewelry buyers inspect facet clarity and metal finish at 300% zoom. Automated apps blur stones and erase fine engravings. See how studio precision compares.
| Feature | Reframe Studio | Automated AI Enhancers | Low-Cost Gig Freelancers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gemstone Facet Clarity | Hand-sharpened individual facet cuts with natural fire | Over-smoothed 'plastic' stone with blurred cuts | Uneven contrast and over-saturated color |
| Metal Reflection Control | Smooth, elegant studio gradients with real luster | Smudged textures that look like flat plastic | Incomplete glare and reflection cleanup |
| Pave & Setting Detail | Micro-prongs, hallmarks, and pavé stones sharpened | Prongs frequently erased or merged into stones | Harsh edge halos around small stones |
| Color & Gold Accuracy | Calibrated to real 14k/18k yellow, rose, and platinum tones | Artificial neon tinting and inconsistent hues | Variable color shifts between images |
| Zoom Inspection Quality | Flawless at 300% macro zoom for luxury retail | Pixelated artifacts and blurry edge noise | Visible cloning stamps and brush marks |
| Quality Assurance | Two senior jewelry retouchers review every file | Zero QA checks | Individual freelancer self-review |
Is jewelry retouch right for your images?
A good fit
- Fine jewelry retailers and designers requiring magazine-quality ecommerce listings
- Macro photography with visible dust specks, micro-scratches, or lens glare
- Diamonds, gemstones, pearls, and high-polish metals (yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, platinum)
Not a fit
- 3D CGI jewelry rendering: we edit real photographs, not CAD models
- Basic bulk background cutouts without cleanup: standard Clipping Path is lower cost
- General non-jewelry product editing: Retouching handles standard consumer goods
What you get back.

Jewelry photo retouching is an ultra-detailed post-production discipline specifically developed for fine jewelry and luxury watches. Macro camera lenses magnify invisible surface flaws like dust specks, micro-scratches, and reflection glare. Our retouchers clean metal surfaces, enhance diamond fire and stone facets, and balance reflections while keeping the piece authentic and true to life.
We avoid generic plastic blurring filters. Our artists use manual frequency separation, dodge and burn on individual facets, and selective contrast adjustment. This sharpens facet edges, enhances natural internal light reflection (fire), and clears cloudiness while maintaining genuine stone physics.
Yes. Highly reflective metals capture camera lenses, lighting softboxes, and studio reflections. We neutralize distracting environmental reflections and replace them with smooth, luxury studio reflection gradients that define the ring's curvature and polished sheen.
Yes. Macro photography often produces an extremely shallow depth of field requiring multiple focal bracket shots. We can composite and align focus-stacked images to ensure razor-sharp clarity from the front stone to the rear band, repairing any stacking halos or motion artifacts.
Yes. We deliver pure white backgrounds (RGB 255, 255, 255 / #FFFFFF) calibrated for Amazon main image compliance, high-resolution transparent PNGs for Shopify themes, and 16-bit layered PSD files for luxury lookbook print publishing.
Because jewelry retouching requires intensive hand detail, standard turnaround is 24 to 48 hours for batches up to 250 images. Rush 24-hour turnaround is available for urgent product launches.
Basic ($0.80): dust, scratches and fingerprints cleaned off. Advanced ($1.99): reflections and glare controlled, metal and stones brought to a clean shine. High-end ($5.00): detailed work stone by stone, rebuilding reflections and shine for luxury and campaign images. Prices are per image at 24h Standard.
Yes. We reduce distracting glare and keep the highlights that make metal look like metal and stones look cut. If a ring ends up looking dull or plastic, tell us and we bring the sparkle back.
Yes. Stone shape, prongs, clasps, engraving and metal texture are preserved, and we do not change the design of the piece. Edits are limited to cleanup, shine, color and contrast.
We match to a reference: send a photo taken under neutral light or tell us the metal and stone. We cannot check the physical piece, so for precise color send a reference. Changing the color on purpose (white gold to rose gold, for example) is a Color Change job.
Wipe the piece before shooting, use soft light so reflections are clean, and shoot sharp with the whole piece in focus. The cleaner the shot, the lower the tier. Send the highest resolution you have and RAW if you can.
No. Background removal and clipping path are separate. The Jewelry Essentials bundle pairs Jewelry Retouch with Background Removal for $1.54 per image, so you can order both in one job.
